For a while now on Etsy (actually they're the first thing I started selling) I've been selling various receptacles filled with the thousands of stars that I folded in high school. (For the many of you who undoubtedly also folded thousands of stars at one point in your lives or another... yeah, you'd be surprised what people will buy when 1. you photograph it well and 2. they don't have the time to learn how to make it themselves. this is practically the Ultimate Truth of Etsy.) This is the last of the ornaments that I bought last year to fill up with stars; someone requested an ornament with more festive, holiday colors. in my usual fashion I put in all the icy colors first... this is what it looked like when all filled up.

One of our lab members is having a dinner party tonight. He and his wife are Indian, so I am soooooo stoked for the food. mmmarrrrrgh I'm already hungry.

It was only so long before my glove-making addiction and my ruffles-and-buttons addiction made friends. Yarn by sqwish, vintage mother-of-pearl buttons. Totally indulged myself in the materials on this one, really.

I wrote this little list a while back - it's basically the advice that I find myself offering over and over to people on Etsy who ask for shop critique. This touches on the main aspects of store set-up, and a few on-site promotional ideas. Digesting the sheer volume of Etsy advice and tutorials available is a task in and of itself, so arguably I'm not even helping by adding to them, but it's convenient to me to have this in published form, so here goes. XD I originally wrote it for a fellow knitter (*cough* [info]stuffu, a.k.a. kakaner.etsy.com), but most of the advice is generally applicable.

Why does brightstar109.etsy.com not get more attention/sales? Way out of my price range, and I know that also makes her way out of a lot of, if not most, shoppers' price ranges, but I've seen so many sellers with more expensive and/or less exciting work getting tons of sales. blah blah marketing blah branding, I know the usual answers... I still just find it unfortunate sometimes. And so... random link/eye candy pimpage.

Also, I got to see antigenre's work in person today, which was pretty damn cool.

Ahhh Etsy. How you infiltrate lives.

Wintermute is finally hanging out on my desk again! I haven't played with her or Aure in forever. I moved them off a while ago because I was getting concerned about the really strong morning sunlight... and since I always have a hundred (other) distractions/pursuits/responsibilities at hand, "out of sight, out of mind" came into effect pretty instantly. Guilt, guilt.

Comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you have to list ten things you LOVE that begin with that letter. Afterward, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

[info]sushi_candy gave me the letter G. :D

1. Gardening (like you couldn't tell from my photospam)
2. Guylian chocolates (the praline-filled seashells - haven't had them in years though)
3. Gaiman
4. Giggling (...I laugh a lot)
5. Gerbils
6. Greek mythology
7. Gothic novels
8. Grass, preferably cold, + bare feet
9. Granola
10. Glass bottles

Snapshot of the day:

The scarf I made with the yarn that I posted yesterday. 'S for sale at Etsy; you can click on the photo to get to my shop.
